UBKA Beekeeper of the Year

Our very own Jonathan Getty was awarded the Ulster Beekeepers’ Association ‘Beekeeper of the Year’ tonight at our monthly meeting.  His efforts with queen rearing (not just for Belfast members), his input for the Native Irish Honey Bee Society throughout the island of Ireland, the wealth of experience and knowledge that he is ever-willing to share, and of course the imparting of advice on the construction of correx nucs has to be noted! UBKA Chairperson John Witchell presented him with the Robbie Burns Memorial shield tonight when, funnily enough, Jonathan had been giving the members a presentation on overwintering bees.

We congratulate him on this accolade and will proudly display the shield at our exhibit during the UBKA conference in March.  The conference marks the 70th anniversary of the UBKA and promises to be a great weekend!!
